To live a healthy, prosperous and happy life one must follow Ayurvedic dinacharya in its day to day practice. Ayurvedic Dinacharya means daily routine mentioned by Ayurveda to live a healthy, prosperous and happy life. I have written this separate blog which is a powerful way to succeed in life. Do make sure that you read all the supporting blogs as well. Link will be in the end of this blog. Or you can migrate from main page of health and wellness.

The healing methodology of PanchKarma in Aryurveda is 5000 year old which is tested and proven over time (more than 5000 years). In this a composition of a body is studied with the help of external measures. Here there is no cut and stich that a body undergoes. Its only with all the external experiences, observations and simple test of pulse analysis is done.

Basically there are two types of methods undertaken on any kind of patient with illness or ailment. Those are Shaman and Shodhan. You need not be ill or sick to undergo PanchKarma. It can be done as a routine maintainace of your own body.

In Shaman, if the ailment is very nominal or simple that can be easily cured with giving plant based medicines and some routines of food habits to be followed. This type of curing/healing is part of shaman.

In Shodhan, if the illness is deep routed in the body and is more critical that needs prolonged treatment, firstly impurity is identified with all the symptoms with respect to age and other factors and tried to drained or flushed out of the system from the nearest source available.

There are 5 procedures that are given with the help of identifying illness or ailment, season and type of dosha in body those are Vaman, Virechan, Basti and Rakta Mokshan in PanchKarma.

Procedures done under Shodahn in details.

Before starting PanchKarma procedures, impurity that has been grown inside any particular part of body is identified. It can be stucked with a gluey, sticky material inside the body and may have remained or persisted in the body since long time. In first stage this material needs to be flushed out via draining it into nearest source available. For this there are two steps that are followed. Snehan and Swedan. Human body has 9 direct openings/gates present: Two Eyes, Nose, Mouth, two ears, solid and liquid waste excretory openings and reproductory openings.

Snehan:

In this procedure a person is made to drink ghee (ayurvedic ghee) in the early morning. This can be mostly during your breakfast. Along with drinking ghee, there is full body oil massage given to the person undergoing PanchKarma.

As this, ghee enters inside the body and loosens all the glued dirt that has remained inside body for long period of time. It becomes a lubricant and a medium for dirt to mobilize. When this is combined with full body oil massage, this loosened dirt is flushed inside your intestine. This is ayurvedic oil massage, that is done with a nice intensity and body is made to move in all possible ways it should done by a trained massager. This procedures is followed for few days depending upon the severity of the illness. This makes your full body tissue system flexible from in and out both. 2-3 days the procedure is repeated.

Swedan:

Once the person has taken ghee in stomach and oil massage on body, he/she under goes steam/sauna or hot water bath which will give sweating. This steam can be given minimum of 5 minutes to maximum 15 minutes depending upon baring capacity of a person. This steam bath helps to loosens/melt all the dirt and flushes everything in intestine. Depending upon the illness and pulse examination this snehan and swedan procedures are repeated between 3-5 days.

Your entire body is in perfect harmony, where you must follow early morning yoga exercises, calm mood, meditation, simplest form of food that is easy to digest mostly vegetarian and on time no drinking smoking or tobacco is allowed. If this all is followed with given therapies or procedures it multiplies the healing affect on the body which is undergoing PanchKarma procedures. In critically ill people you may see changes appearing very fast than in normal people who are just normally taking PanchKarma for routine maintenance of the body.

Then comes the main procedures vaman and virechan.
